Hi i am new to this group.  I has a single tumor in my prostate Gleason 4+3 so no watch and wait.  I chose to have HIFU treatment (high intensity focal ultrasound) on 1st  April.  Anybody had this i would like to chat about recovery issues, timelines etc.  Good news is that my specialist say it is unlikely i will need any further treatment in the short term ie before an MP MRI in 1 years time.  - What a rollercoaster i feel emotionally drained.

  • HIFU is a good option for single contained tumour.  Follow up MRI etc essential.  But you haven’t burned any bridges with regards to other treatments and your side effects should be minimal.  You were lucky that HIFU was suitable for you.  Well done.  AW

  • Thanks, due to previous RT on my bladder the only curative options for me were Hifu or radical surgery (for me 70% chance of incontinence)  so i took the chance on hifu a no brainer really.  Fingers crossed it has worked.  Good luck

  • Hi

Thats what i wanted, though its in testing stages as far as i am aware i had a 3+3 but i have two tumers so was deemed unsuitable for the HIFU.

I hope it works out and please post your progress for others to read as it may help many men

  • This is an option I'm looking at the moment, seems least invasive/recovery issues and think I'll be an appropriate candidate (need to be referred), love to hear how you found it overall, did you have to do any HT as well? Hope all going great in your recovery.

    Thanks Brian
