Hi everyone, after hearing of Sir Chris Hoy’s diagnosis I decided to request a routine PSA test at my GP’s in November 24. I had absolutely no symptoms at all but the result came back as 49.8
I had the usual round of MRI’s, scans and biopsies which confirmed I had PC.
initially, it looked to be localised but my urologist suggested a PSMA PET scan to be sure, as my PSA was so high. I had this on New Year’s Eve and sadly, it confirmed metastasic spread to both hips and a rib.
After some considerable stress in getting allocated, I’m now under the care of a fabulous oncologist and three sessions in to six of docetaxel chemo, along with Prostap 3DCS hormone therapy (my first injection was delivered incorrectly… but that’s another story) and Darolutimide as triplet therapy. As I write this intro message, I’m currently in hospital after contracting parainfluenza last week. But all seems under control now.
Hello everyone!
Hello ST68 . As they say, prostate cancer is the gift that keeps giving but you were unlucky to pick up that one. Unfortunately being a virus there is little that can be done apart from supportive therapy and let it run its course. Do you think you will be out of hospital for Easter or are you still infectious? Let us know how you get on and all the best for a speedy recovery so that you can continue with the chemo and knock the cancer into the long grass.
Your diagnosis mirrors mine sadly, but your treatment is very different. I was on Aberiterone acetate for the first year then a PARP inhibitor Olaparib for another year till now. My metastasis are similar to yours too. Good luck with getting rid of the virus and you’ll be back on track. Great to hear for a fellow sufferer though when I say that I still have no pain in my body, it’s the head that takes the brunt of it. Stay strong and know you’re not alone.
Hoping to be out for tomorrow as things seem to be returning to normal. Next chemo due next Wednesday, so here’s hoping I can still have it

i feel verry tired all time and my moral is verry low .
THAT all i want to say for now
Hello Daniel56 and welcome. There are many of us who have been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in the family, my husband included, and are still going strong after many years. What treatment you are offered will depend on where the cancer has metastasised to and how widely so if you have any more information it might help us to help you in a more targeted way. You say that you are going to be given tablets but has any mention been made about chemotherapy as well? I expect you are aware that exercise is good for counteracting the fatigue but it can also help to reduce the side effects from the hormone therapy. Please ask any questions and we will try and help if you want.
Hello Daniel56
