Hi all, my husband has just been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and the plan moving forward is for him to undergo prostate surgery.

  • Hi Fairywings, I had my op 12 months ago now. Each one of our journeys is a unique case with its own timeline and staging points.  There’s plenty of experience within this community so feel free to ask specific questions.  All the best.

  • Hi again  , thanks for popping on your stats.  It all sounds very curable.  Obviously I am not medical but normally at such an early stage I would assume your OH would be offered either surgery or RT both with HT.  There is a lot of good info and I am tagging   as the resident font of all knowledge who I imagine will have a booklet for you to read. • Hello  and a warm welcome from me. David has tagged me in to offer you a link to a book which you can download for free. It is a good starter to get you used to all the terminology and to make you aware of the options for treatment along with some of the pros and cons of them. The decision on which treatment route is best for your husband is very personal and they all come with their own challenges but the one thing that all men have in common when dealing with prostate cancer is to try and get as fit as possible to give you the best chance of reducing any side effects and that includes doing pelvic floor exercises to strengthen the internal muscles which can help control urine flow and erectile disfunction as a result of the treatments. There is an app called the SQUEEZY APP which you can also download to tell you how to do them properly. If you want any help then just ask as there is support available for the whole family but as a wife it can be just as challenging for you so make sure you look after yourself as well as this is very much a couples disease.
