I was diagnosed with prostate cancer (I had no symptoms, it was picked up by my GP who was investigating iron deficiency) in December 2022, grade 5 Gleason score 9, been on HT for six months (out of a possible 3years) still waiting for my 20 days (4 Weeks) of radiotherapy to start, estimated start date 24th July. Hope all are well at the moment.

  • Good luck welcome to the club.I was diagnosed Feb this year and just had a TURPS operation 3days in hospital.I start my radiotherapy end September 30days as they think it's possibly in my lymph nodes cheers Bob

  • From one Grumpyoldman to another- I’m almost 1/2 way through my 20 weeks, all generally fine. Some tiredness, and erratic bowels but otherwise ok. Hang on in there.

  • Hi, welcome to the club, I too was Gleason 9. I had 20 sessions of radiotherapy in February/March and am on hormone therapy for another 18 months.

  • Hi Bob

Interesting that - I am pleased you have been sorted and making progress.

My TURP was at North Manchester General - in Friday 7.00am out Saturday lunch 1.30pm just the one overnight. I was told they do have a cross match for blood as you can lose quite a bit, I do remember the cleaning out after the operation involving a silver bucket - but all is well!

Again they thought the PC could be in my lymph nodes, and decided to "zap" them too but I only got 20 days on the sunbed!!

Hope the RT goes well. any questions feel free to ask.

    Kind Regards

    Brian.

  • Hi millibob yes they had a few problems with my blood pressure plummeting which they say is quite common post op .As to why I'm doing 30days is another question. It seems a bit like overkill.Nevermind as long as I see the light at the end of the tunnel cheers
