Just joined - was diagnosed with prostate cancer over 3 years ago, now awaiting radiotherapy- need an MRI brain scan to find out why I have a speech impediment all of a sudden - don’t really see why - any ideas?
Hello Jasonb
I am sorry to see that you have had a diagnosis of prostate cancer and that you are now awaiting radiotherapy.
I can understand why you feel concerned about the MRI but I would think that this would be a routine thing to do if there are any concerns about a speech difficulty in someone .Also with you due to start radiotherapy maybe they are just being ultra careful to check the current state of your health before it starts. I had pelvic radiotherapy last year and had another scan a few weeks before it started and it seemed a common thing to happen with the gentlemen I met there each day who were undergoing the treatment.
In my experience there are a lot of scans and tests that happen during and after cancer treatment and often they are to rule out things and not always related to the original cancer. A speech impediment that is a new thing is reason enough to get a check.
I hope that you don't have to wait too long for the answers you need.
Jane
