Hi,
I had a phone consultation on 4th February where it was confirmed that I had prostate cancer. I made phone call to the Urology coordinator on 9th February telling her that I decided to have radical prostatectomy. She said it would be about six week wait for surgery. Had a meeting with consultant on 23rd February to discuss surgery and was told it would be around 8 weeks wait for surgery. Emailed the Urology coordinator on 17th March, as it had been 5 weeks and not heard anything. She said she spoke to the booking office and it looks like it will be April and that I should hear something in the next couple of weeks. Phoned booking office 31st March as not heard anything and was told would be end of April. Finally had my prostatectomy on 2nd May.
As you can see that was 3 months wait. Hopefully yours will not be that long as I know the waiting makes you anxious.
Wow thanks for info hope your recovery goes well
Not had op yet but ed is a big worry have read prostate, UK post op care pack (free) ring and read it’s very good thay also arranged for a chap that’s been through it to talk to me about it …just got divorced as well and have a new girlfriend with a high sex drive after 21 years of marriage of very little ..so I’ve been looking into it…looks like it depends if the cancer is spread or is near your two nerve bundles that help get errections can be saved or not..even if saved called nerve sparing surgery it won’t be the same ..as when prostate removed your Willy sinks in as no base sort of thing .so can get short by a bit when flaccid.in the pack thay recommend as soon as your wee bag is removed you start using a Willy pump to keep blood into it and get given Viagra to boost the flow a bit like physio this will give you a good head start to keep it healthy. Then it’s trial and error there are creams injections and even implants too but all very sobering but check out men’s prostate UK. Hope this helps
