Help. Anyone have experience of kidney stents, my husbands prostate cancer is stopping the kidneys from functioning properly, they finally managed to get stents fitted and working. But now the poor man can’t stop going to the bathrooms. It’s so bad we daren’t go anywhere. He can only sleep an hour at a time, it’s really debilitating. Does anyone have any advice about how to cope with this, or whether or not it improves over time. It’s only been a week so far, not change. :-( thank you so much.

I am sorry to see that your husband is having problems since having his kidney stents fitted. It must be exhausting for him if he is having to go throughout the night as well and not much fun if you both can't go anywhere.
Is it possible that you could contact his doctor/CNS and explain that the stents seem to be irritating him and that they are causing frequency and urgency and that although its only been a week, things are not improving. Perhaps it is to be expected however it may be a sign of infection or something that needs treating. Also he must be getting dehydrated. It must be really miserable for him.
Alternatively you could consider calling the support line and asking to speak to one of the nurses to get some advice? The number is at the bottom of this.
