Robotic radical prostatectomy

Surgery took place in January 2022. My issue is using the toilet when away from home, sorry sensitive subject, as each time I open my bowels I have urine leakage. At home I use a jug. If I need to open my bowels urgently when out it can become problematic. Does any other member have such issues and a solution. I have thought about carrying a jug but this is not always possible. Any help appreciated.

    Hi

I'm sorry to hear you are having some problems. It is not clear to me what is actually happening here. To save you any further explanation, could I suggest that you ring your CNS or GP, they may be able to put you in contact with whoever needs to do a continence assessment. The other option is to ring the Macmillan phone lines, this is the link https://www.macmillan.org.uk/about-us/contact-us

    Hope you get sorted Cuthbert,

  • Hi sistermoon,

Thank you for your reply. I will call Macmillan phone line as a starting point. I did speak to a incontinence nurse early during my recovery but that was over 1 year ago. I have not had any contact with my GP regarding my prostate cancer post surgery. The surgery I attend do carry out PSA blood tests under the directions of Urology Dept at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. I do appreciate the NHS is under severe pressure and my issues may be regarded as minor issues. Kind regards

    Cuthbert

    Hi

Your GP should be aware of your diagnosis and surgery that you have had. The reason I've advised GP and CNS is that services are provided differently across the country according to budgets etc.

Even if NHS services are stretched, you are still having difficulty and need advice/support. Hope you get sorted.
