Hi folks .. I just want to say hello .. I was diagnosed 7 years ago, when I was 55, and have been on a watch and wait sort of scenario ever since. BUT my recent scans and biopsies have prompted the Doctors to decide it's time action was taken, the cancer is still contained within my prostate but has started to grow and my PSA has risen....... I am very lucky as it was diagnosed very early, I am the youngest of five brothers and we have all had/have prostate cancer .. sadly my eldest brother died, he was the first to have it and his diagnosis was quite late .. he thought the pains were old age etc.... as soon as it was found to be PC it was recommended that all the family over 40 got tested.
It looks like my options are surgery or radiation treatment ... I have appointments with the surgery experts and the Oncologists coming up so I can make an informed decision. Anyway .. hello to everyone in here
Hello Nick
Thank you for sharing your story. It must have been difficult for your family and shows the importance of getting checked My husband lost his brother who was diagnosed late. It is sad that there was not enough awareness by some GPs at the time. I hope your treatment goes well - you will certainly not be short of advice on the best options.
Kind regards Robina
