Hello everyone,
I'm new to the group and interested in receiving feed back from fellow sufferers.
I am a 74 year old male and was first diagnosed with localised prostate cancer 5 years ago after a routine blood test which showed a PSA of 20. I underwent brachytherapy treatment which seemed to be successful, however last year it had returned with a PSA of 61 and the cancer had spread outside the prostate into some local lymph nodes, I was immediately offered chemotherapy and/or hormone therapy. I decided on hormone therapy of 3 monthly injections of Decapeptyl and daily tablets of Enzalutamide which have proved very effective, my PSA is currently 0.03, however some of the side effects have been lack of energy and loss of strength, more aches and pains and occasional mood swings, although in general I can't complain and I can cope with these but I'm not sure whether they will worsen over time.
Just wondered if anyone on similar medication has suffered these side effects and whether they ease off or worsen.
Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Milo - I am on Decapeptyl for my Hormone Treatment. I am on 6 monthly injections and have had 3 so far. The side effects have been - bigger boobs, itchy skin. the ability to cry anytime, weight gain, hot flushes and loss of erectile function - I can cope with all of these. I find plenty of exercise keeps the fatigue away.
I hope this helps - Good luck on your journey.
Brian.

Hi
Dont have mood swings, although the hormone injections do help that way a little, the side effects will lighten but always be there, sometimes you’ll have good sometimes not great. I’ve had enzalutamide for three years plus, still get tired fatigue Yep, strength a third of what I was.
Remember we’re all different, this might not happen to you.
Stay safe
