Had a MRI scan & got pirade 3 score ( confused me) Dr told me over the phone and said quote . Unlikely to be cancer do you want a biopsy ? I said no , but now very unsure what to do . The suspicious lesion was 5mm . My psa is 3.3 & im told ok ish for 60 year old .  Can someone please give some kind of help - advice please , as im autistic & have high anxiety issues : thanks

  • Hi Blue sorry to hear that you got such an unsatisfactory consultation that can often happen when it’s done by phone you are left wishing you had asked more questions. You could maybe try phoning the person who called you They will be able to tell you what kind of follow up they can offer you to check for any changes in the prostate.

There will be other men on this forum who would be able to share their experience and give you more advice.

You can also find information on Prostate Cancer UK website

all the best in the future whatever you decide.

  • You can't go on to Active Surveillance without a diagnosis of prostate cancer, and you haven't been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

However, you can closely monitor in a similar way to Active Surveillance. I would suggest getting another PSA test in 3-6 months. If it's gone up significantly (say, ≥ 10%), then you should be referred back.

OTOH, if you are anxious and are going to just worry for that period, you might be better off getting a biopsy now so you know where you stand.

It was 9am and the Dr really didnt seem interested in giving me enough info .

  • I’m glad Andy was able to clarify that for you.

  • Hi Blue

I would go with the biopsy otherwise you'll be forever wondering, at least you'll know for sure, will help your anxiety.

Pirads 3, always a difficult one, could be cancer, hopefully not but Def worth checking it out for sure

    Best wishes

Yes , thats what im going to do . Mind playing all sorts tricks now , as in could a 5mm lesion be advanced etc or still confined to prostate :

  • I think that 5mm will def be confined. and not advanced  plus your other stats are low.

When I was first diagnosed  the lesion was 3mm climbing to 13mm over 4 years.

So time is on your side

    good luck
