Hi Blue sorry to hear that you got such an unsatisfactory consultation that can often happen when it’s done by phone you are left wishing you had asked more questions. You could maybe try phoning the person who called you They will be able to tell you what kind of follow up they can offer you to check for any changes in the prostate.
There will be other men on this forum who would be able to share their experience and give you more advice.
You can also find information on Prostate Cancer UK website

all the best in the future whatever you decide.

You can't go on to Active Surveillance without a diagnosis of prostate cancer, and you haven't been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
However, you can closely monitor in a similar way to Active Surveillance. I would suggest getting another PSA test in 3-6 months. If it's gone up significantly (say, ≥ 10%), then you should be referred back.
OTOH, if you are anxious and are going to just worry for that period, you might be better off getting a biopsy now so you know where you stand.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
