Just waiting for full diagnosis after MRI scan, biopsy and PET scan. Gleason score is 8. Probably will be offered hormone therapy and radiotherapy. Just hoping for the best and continued normal life!

  • Hi CJM - Welcome to the club you didn't want to join. There's hope pal - it's not all bad  - I am a Gleason 9 - on HT and already had the RT and things are not that bad - The thing is keep a positive attitude and it won't get the better of you.

You have done the right thing by joining the chat and there are plenty of folk on here who know far more than me. Once you get your full diagnosis, stick your stats up here and you will get the best advice going - the folks on here have been amazing with me and a great help.

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Thanks Brian

Good to hear it looks ok!

  • I now know from the pet scan that the malignancy is localised to the prostate. I am seeing the oncologist in 4 weeks to plane hormone and radiotherapy treatments. So hopefully I can be treated and mended.

  • Hi CJM - That is good news - Keep the positive attitude and make sure you have a list of questions for the oncologist - don't miss the opportunity to find out anything you are not sure of.

The hormone therapy will keep the cancer at bay and the radiotherapy will kill it off. Just be prepared for the side effects of both treatments.

Anything you want to know just ask.

Good luck on your journey through your treatment, and anything you want to ask come back to us - there is always someone here who knows.

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Thanks Brian.

I do now feel positive about the clear diagnosis and the help I’m going to get - and thank you for your support.

    Best wishes

Chris, whilst you're waiting for your results go to the Prostate Cancer UK website and download this leaflet. It will give you a good idea of what the different staging are:

    I hope that helps.
