Doctor suggested a visit to Urology as my PSA was raised. When I got to see the consultant I discovered raised didn't quite cove it  my PSA was 330. Started hormone treatment on the day. Completed bone scan, soft tissue scan and biopsy (which I get the results of end of this month).  I guess just needed to unload to much detail I suspect

  • Hi cyclenomore, welcome to the club no-one would want to be a member of but you're in the right place for support & advice from those on the same journey.

Check out others journeys by clicking on their profile (chair icon) I suggest start keeping your journey record here too as is a reminder for you and provides useful info for others.

All the best on your journey my friend, keep us posted on your progress

    Cheers, Graham

  • Good Afternoon Cyclenomore - Graham's spot on - keep a diary and read what has gone on with others. Once you get your biopsy results put those up too as these will help people give you advice. We are all on a journey, some people use a different route!!

Unload here, that's what we are here for - I joined early last year and the information I have added to my knowledge of PC is amazing.

We are here to help as well as to be used to let off steam to.

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Hello Cyclenomore. Sorry to hear about your concerns but the hormone treatment is proven to be successful in most cases of stopping any spread while waiting for results etc.

as the others have said, I recommend keeping a diary but I would advise including the names and contact details of all the people you speak to - there will be many!  That way you can get through quickly to the most appropriate person if you need to without being sent on a wild goose chase by hospital switchboards etc!

I would also advise finding out if you have either or both of prostate cancer specialist nurse team and/ or a local support group. For us, these were invaluable in getting us through the first months when there was so much intolerable waiting and anxiety +++

best of luck and I hope the results of the tests are as positive as possible.

  • Thanks Brian I have updated my profile- story

  • Wow - I am not trying to be funny "but that's some ride". It looks like you are in good hands now and that progress is being made with your treatment. Keep us posted on how you go on and if you want to chat, ask questions or just let off steam - well we are here for you.

Best wishes for your journey - Brian.

  • Cheers Brian, they say moving house and changing job are the two most stressful things not sure about that. Great news are your status time to enjoy life to its full.

I'll update my status as I progress and thanks for the support

    Kind Regards Paul

  • You are quite correct Paul - I had 14 months from Diagnosis to date and it's been some ride. It's been diagnosis - tests - results - treatment - tests - treatment. You are always waiting for something and the wait between results and treatment can take it's toll.

Thankfully the other day a letter dropped through my letterbox and said - well we've done your Radiotherapy, just keep on the HT for another 2 years and we will keep checking your PSA. Once it sunk in the stress of 14 months just evaporated. There's still the worry of what the next PSA test will be - but that's in the back of my mind.

The thing is you are now on your journey and you are getting the treatment and support you need. You will get there.

    Kind Regards - Brian.
