Ticking every box

Hi

My fiancé received his diagnosis on Wednesday. We knew it was coming as he literally ticked every box for prostate cancer, over 50, black, family history, high psa level, needing to pee a lot and shadow on his mri scan.

Despite all that the confirmation that the biopsy was positive still smacked us in the face. I think we are still numb and In a state of disbelief .

He has been told he will have to have a full prostate removal to have a fighting chance and so that is what we will do.

Any advice, tips or support greatfully received.

  • Hi Dazel

Sorry to hear, if u have any stats that would help with advice ,  PSA, Gleeson, MRI should give some idea of tumour size and  location.

  • If the prostate is being removed it may mean that it hasn't spread which can only be a good thing. I was diagnosed with stage 4 with mets to bones so there are folk worse off out there. Wish you all the best and hope you guys get over the initial shock quick enough
