Hi I was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in 2019 when I was 74. My Gleason score was 4+4. Treatment was 6 sessions of chemo and Zoladex. My PSA was 46 at start and was reduced to 0.1 after 4 session. I feel at present good and try to walk each day for anywhere between 2 and 10 miles. I was told that I would not die from prostate cancer but would due with it.
I lost my wife to MND in early 2017 and soon afterwards was asked to join group of 4 ladies who had lost their husbands to MND around the same time. That group of 5 became 6 two years later. It is without doubt the biggest thing in my life. Offers support and laughs. One of the group and I had a 4 year very special relationship but that has now sadly ended and she has temporarily left the group as she has gone off with another man. That breakup left me devastated and the stress caused my PSA to rise to 0.3 but luckily it has now dropped back to 0.2. The Zoladex injections are tri-monthly and I am on them for life. But and it's a big but, I have a life.
Willowman, first of all, welcome to the Prostate forum.
I am amazed at how you got to join the group of ladies who were all in the similar position as yourself, losing a partner.
Sorry to hear your special relationship has ended, her loss!
There are lots of good people here, more and more wives are coming on instead of their husbands. Seeing things from their prospective is good. It makes us men think more.
Hope things start going right now for you.
