Feeling desperate!

I wrote a post here a few days ago abt my husband, who is undergoing hormone treatment having completed a months coure of radiotherapy last November. His symptoms continue to worsen. He rang the urology team when he detected blood in his urine. The lady on the phone told him to contact his gp to arrange an urine sample. This he did. After 5 long days he heard nothing after being informed by the receptionist at the surgery that the doctor would contact him with the results. In desparation i rang the surgery this afternoon. I told them abt my husbands symptoms and that he is becoming increasingly anxious. The lady then informed me that the urine test came back clear. I insisted that he needs to speak to the doctor but she insisted they could do no more because he is being treated for prostate cancer with the urology team at our regional  hospital— the same team that told him to contact his gp!!!!

Nobody seems to be listening to him. I can see him getting worse. He has no energy and hasn’t left the house in the last 3 weeks. I feel powerless. What can i do to help him?  Should i make a lot of noise? Thank you for reading my post.

  • Hi

I feel that he needs to go back to urology, and tell them what his GP surgery have said. I think they suggested he went to the GP, to check there was no infection causing the problem.

Let us know what they say, if you decide on this route.

    Regards

  • Thank you for your reply. The doctor from our surgery did ring this morning and confirmed that there are traces of blood in his urine but he does not have an infection. As you suggested he will now ring the urology dept armed with this information in the hope that he will be seen very soon.
Good luck with your fitness regime!
