Hello everyone. My Dad had prostate cancer 8.5 yrs ago. Had radiotherapy and hormone treatment. Recently PSA 2.5 went up to 22. in 3 months. He's 77. On 26/5/22 had bone scan and MRI . 28/5/22 was to he has appt with his Oncologist on 19/7/22 I would like your opinions please. I'm thinking, because he was contacted within two days of his scans, they have possibly found cancer in his bones??. He hasn't been examined or had any biopsies. I can handle, good bad news. as long as I have an idea what's going on. What do you all think. Honest answers please. Thank you. Look

falward to chatting with you all

  • Hi Lynda

That's quite a wait to see a specialist after he has had scans.

You should give the hospital a ring and ask for copies of the scan reports and come back on here with the results for further advice.

Difficult to say what is happening but if he had PC treatment 8 years ago it looks like it may have returned, one would think that if serious they would have called him in sooner.

    Regards

    Steve

  • So Sorry to hear his psa is up again. Xx All I can say is that we have had plenty forward appointments come through straight away. They make me laugh sometimes, the checkuo/ results appointments seem to be booked almost instantly hope that helps. GREAT EXAMPLE. We going tues to guys. Get radiotherapy dates. AND LAST WEEK. WE GOT LETTER APPOINTMENT, for July and Oct and December!!!! Hope that helps you abit xxx we have had result dates almost before check up pleaseeeee just keep strong and ask questions. Easier said than done. Big love to u and everyone on is sight xx

  • Speaking from us. It's all so frightening. And the not knowing really what's going on and the waiting is hell. These people on hear r great. And so helpful, encouraging and knowledgeable. They help so much. And you can be assured everyone does tactfully be honest with us when u ask questions. Obviously prostate cancer is complicated. Well that's what I found. But these helpful people are here for when u need them. We were so scared and veryyyy confused when my husbands was found. We were so scared, petrified when they told us. My husbands 59. and I'm affaid his is stage 4 metastatic (bones and lymph nodes. But his still being treated. They never give up on u or just don't bo. There r sooooo many treatment, injections pills radiotherapy, cheoptharpy they still give u, even if very bad. I learnt though here to Try not to project the future. It's so hard but all that does is lise today's time and peace. Try to do normal every day things, then you blink and a month has past xxx we r going to guys tomorrow. And we are more focused on. ''what shall we have to eat when we get back home, and let's watch a good film on TV tonight xxxx that's how we try to get through it anyway. U will find your own way xxxx best of luck to u Nd every one else on here x

  • It's so confusing. When he gets the copies, I'll let you all know. Slight smile

  • Hope all goes well on Tues

  • Hello Steve.Just an update,as I said I would Went to see my dad today. He was called in to have an organ scan for today. They have also moved his consultant appointment from 19th July to Tuesday 7th June. Does that sound like bad news?  Oh,his Gleason score 8.5 yrs ago was 7. I have no idea what that means. Kind Regards Lynda
