Hello,

Diagnosed in April 2022 with Localised prostate Cancer Gleeson 7 (3+4)  last two PSA results 2 months apart 5.9 now 5.4.

NHS choices are LDR Brachytherapy, Surgery and Active Surveillance. Currently Researching Focal Therapy, and maybe a second opinion.

Any advice would be grateful

Best Wishes

  • Hi

A second opinion never goes amiss, although if you’ve had a biopsy it usually is what they say, having said that your scores are low and there should be plenty of options for you, just take your time in deciding which way to go.

    Stay safe

    Joe

  • My story was almost exactly the same as yours. My age on diagnosis was 60. I had similar options offered. BUT what is important is what is right for you and your family. I am currently a recovering cancer patient with 4 month checks. All good.

The good news is there’s no rush. I took some months to finally decide what was right for me.  Good luck

Hi Joe, forgot to mention  I am 57 and my father has PC, diagnosed when was 80, he is now on hormone therapy and doing ok..

    Many thanks

  • Similar to me. I searched for prostate on Spotify and found 'On  Focus', I've found them very interesting and informative.

I've no affiliation to the company but might go to one of their consultants for a second opinion and I'm interested in learning more about focal therapy. If nothing else I just want to dismiss it but felt NHS were dismissing it for the wrong reasons.
