Had a prostatectomy back in September but PSA still read 0.2. & last check was 0.1.Had 2 Bone scans & 2 MRI scans and both were clear.
However a PET scans showed 2 cancerous nodes were left.Almost finished 4 week course of hormone tablets and had my first of 2 hormone injection 2 weeks ago and on this for 6 months and touch wood very little side effects.
Have been offered 3 options 1.Long term hormone treatment . 2 Radiotherapy (6.5 weeks) 3 Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy.
One node is close to my rectum and fear Radiotherapy may damage my bowel.Has anyone else been in the same dilemma and been on long term hormone treatment which I would not mind.I have also read that hydrogel can be used as a barrier between your prostate & rectum to protect it from radiation but not sure if it will work the same since the prostate has been removed.
Have a meeting with oncologist later this month to discuss the options.
