I had a radical proctectomy about 2011   PSA 11.1  a 9 on the Gleason scale after that I had  2 yrs free then it came back two lots of hormones and a 6wk dose of radiotherapy over 10yrs that killed it for a while 3yrs now it back again and moving quicker than last time my new chap in Barts was very surprised that I was still hear, as most people with this last about 5yrs.

I am waiting for the results of a body scan on the 3rd Feb physically I am good. Mentally not so good which is a surprise for me as the last time I held it together, was the rock for my family over the 10yrs  Although this time it is a different ball game don't know where it is the waiting is (pardon the pun) killing me lol.

I am 68yrs old and still work 50hrs a wk can't seem to stop nor do I want to at the moment.

I have a plan to go up  Ben Nevis on my 70th birthday on my new knee which I had done on Sept 2021, on 22/12/21 I was at the top of St Pauls at the top of the stone circle.

I am not the type of person that gives in too easily that's why I don't understand why now?

  • There's no easy answer to that, possibly no answer at all; It's been a long time, and you've done very well - and from what you say, you still have options, albeit fewer than before.

If you find you really aren't coming to terms with it, do discuss it with your doctor. There's plenty of help available, and no shame in telling your GP you're finding it hard.

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.

Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.
