Age 78 I was diagnosed with Advanced Prostate cancer on 11th November with a PSA of 211.

I had had Haematuria at New Year 2020 and blood  sample showed a PSA of 7.2 at that time. At that time i was told I had a benign feeling enlarged prostate.  Covid got in the way of further follow up.

I developed a UTI in October 2021 and mentioned in the e-consultation that I had no follow up.  I was called in for another PSA blood sample and that came back 187. I had a digital examination on 2nd November and  I was referred to a consultant and he informed me before any further test that I definitely had prostate cancer and I was referred then for CAT MRI, full body bone scan and biopsy.  These confirmed that the cancer had spread into my bones.  Stage T3 N0 M1 and a Gleeson of 9 (5+4).  Now being referred to oncologist for another tablet and to my doctors for bone strengthening pills.

Scan shows it has spread only to my bones (Both femurs, left forearm, rib cage and skull.  I had reported a pain in my skull when I laid back to my doctors and they couldn't think of anything at that time to cause it.

Had a flu jab just at the beginning of November and it left me with quite a lot of pain that now fit exactly where they say the cancer has spread too.  Hormone treatment has reduced pain in my skull and back, so it seems to be doing some good.

I am not down or out.  These things happen and you just have to go with the flow.  This diagnosis has affected my wife more than me.  She had told the family she is just going to follow my lead.
