Hi Everyone,

My great dad has prostate cancer, and after the various hormones, radiotherapy and chemotherapy it looks like were out of options as the second line cabazitaxel isnt working so well. It has spread to his lymph nodes and most recently to his rib and liver which is whats worrying me the most althoug right now he isnt in any pain. My reason for posting is the oncologist is terrible, offering no compassion or positivity and is no help when asking about other options or trials. My mother suffers anxiety and i guess as a family we could really use some support, someone to talk to and listen to our situation. Were not expecting a miracle, just some compassion and friendly advice, as up to now the NHS have left us feeling very much alone. Thank you for reading, Mike

  • Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear of your Dad's situation. Is there a Maggie's Centre near where your Dad was treated? They are very helpful. Otherwise try phoning the Macmillan nurses (0808 808 00 00 - 7 days a week 8am to 8pm) or the nurses at the Prostate Cancer UK website. They were really helpful to my wife and I when I was first diagnosed.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.

Seamus thank you for your response. We’ve never asked anyone how long or any of this as I don’t think it brings anything positive. Unfortunately there is no maggies centre near the QE Birmingham.
