Yes I know it's a question with many different answers but I would love to hear the answer from as many other fellow patients as possible.
To set the scene in my case...
Began treatment with Prostap on 27th September 2023 , one month version first then Prostap3 (I had a one month version later just to shift future injection dates from holidays).
Twenty sessions of RT beginning 18th July 2024
Last Prostap3 injection 23rd October 2024 -- the next one should have been on 15th January 2025 but the oncologist advice was that they could be discontinued.
So by calculation it's twenty months since my last HT injection and I have been taking Tadalafil since 6th May 2025. My diary of treatment is in my profile.
Now for the reason for my question. I am still experiencing hot flushes at a frequency of six or seven per day which have actually become more frequent in the past six months. Although the Tadalafil has reduced the atrophy the ED is still at what I would consider only at 60% of my expectations.
What are your experiences having been on a similar journey?
Rod
Hello Rod
I thought I would reply as no one else has so your post will be "bumped up" back to the top of the page.
I can't answer you for Prostap as I was on Decaprptyl.
I have had 2 treatments of hormone therapy 3 years and then 9 months.
The hot flushes were cured by sage tablets - I am still on the sage and still haven't had any hot flushes. I keep taking the pills as I expect to be back on treatment sooner than later!!
My testosterone however rushes back as soon as my last HT dose is out of my system. Strange as it may be, I don't need a blood test to tell me it's back .
Don't forget we are all different and all getting older.
Kind regards - Brian.

It can take a while. I'm now 12 months since finishing 2 years of Decapeptyl and I would say pretty much back to normal. I would say you should be feeling a difference after 6 months but it does vary from individual to individual.
Don't forget to subtract the time your last dose was effective from the total time since your last injection.
It will depend on how well your testosterone recovers after treatment. The older you are the the longer testosterone recovery can take.
The biggest difference I notice is that my libido is back as well as nearly normal sexual function. I didn't really suffer from hot flushes so can't really comment on this.
Best of luck and hope you feel back to your normal self soon.

Thank you both for your comments and kind thoughts.
For reference, my Testosterone figures on the 31st December 2025 were...
Serum testosterone: = 13.1 nmol/L -- Reference range: = 8.0 to 30.0
Serum sex hormone binding glob: = 70 nmol/L -- Reference range: = 15 to 80
Calculated free testosterone: = 0.16 nmol/L -- Reference range: = 0.20 to 0.62
Which of those is the relevant one I don't know.
I will have another set of figures after a blood test early in August, likewise up to date PSA figures.
My libido is certainly much nearer its pre treatment level but the ED still persists as I commented above.
The strange thing about the hot flushes is that the frequency reduced to no more than six or seven per 24hrs back in December 2025 and reduced even further in late January 2026 but since then they have increased in frequency to as many as a dozen per 24hrs, perhaps the warmer (now hot) weather has some influence on that.
I'm 77 (78 in November) now by the way and still reasonably fit although I don't do any deliberate exercise.
The very best wishes to you both,
Rod
