Hi,
This may have been covered elsewhere.
I was diagnosed 5 years ago with metatastised PC in my pelvic lymph nodes, i've had Radiotherapy and have been on Aberaterone and Prednisilone with 6 monthly injections.
Last night i had 2 episodes during the night of waking with a start because of a 'dropping' feeling (best way i can describe it) it's rattled me a bit.
Is this normal with long term hormone replacement therapy?

Hi
I am not medically trained but I don’t think it’s anything to do with your treatment .
Feeling like you are falling and waking up with a jerk is a common, harmless phenomenon called a hypnic jerk or sleep start. It’s about your muscles being relaxed as you awaken.
hope that helps a bit but always check with your cancer team if your concerned

Hi Pieman,
I have never seen it mentioned on the forum before as a side effect of RT or HT, but if it's worrying you then you can always raise it with your team for a bit of reassurance.
Funnily enough, it's something that has happened to me on occasion for as long as I can remember, long before any treatment. I did read up about it once & if I remember correctly, it's something that can happen when you move between light sleep to deep sleep. It is a really weird sensation.
Best Wishes
Brian
