For people starting treatment keep doing what you have been doing. Finished hormone treatment 6 months ago, 20 sessions of RT one year ago. 63 years old had been a Park Runner for five years before this and during Hormone treatment added 25% to my best time. I am a member of a running club, and my training runs and social runs steadily faded during treatment. It was hard and not in the mood but kept it up. Anyway hang on in there. It does come back, not sure how much at the moment but thanks to the adjusting handicap I earned during treatment my improvement as won me the training quarter and 10k!
Would also add that Libido will also fall of a cliff, get some viagara from GP and exercise that special muscle whether you are in the mood or not regularly I am back to normal service.
Good luck to everyone starting a journey.
That’s good to hear. I postponed treatment as I have a marathon planned in September. I will be 66 and it’s my first one. We will see what the first couple of PSA results are, then if steady full steam ahead for Loch Ness. Hopefully raise a bit of cash for MacMillan as well.
Glad you are back feeling more like your old self. Always good to see positive posts here.
Hello Jay (Jay962 )
Thank you for the update - it's great to see that 6 months after the end of your treatment you are back "up and running" (no pun intended).
get some viagara from GP and exercise that special muscle whether you are in the mood or not
Can I just add here -sildenafil/viagra won't work for everyone as it doesn't consider the lack of libido that is caused by the lack of androgens. Penile health is good whilst on Hormone therapy but before you take any medication/supplements please do run them by your Oncology Team.
Best wishes - Brian.
