Prostatitis

I've had prostatitis ever since a 38 core transperennial biopsy 9 years ago. The symptoms come and go. 

I tried several long courses of ciprofloxacin and other antibiotics. All to no avail. 

My prostatitis is non-bacterial. It is inflammation caused by tissue and nerve damage.

My symptoms have gradually improved over time. Tamsulosin definitely helps. I have taken Tamsulosin daily for about 3 years. The flare ups are less frequent and less severe since starting the Tamsulosin. 

The flare ups start with a sharp pain at the tip followed by a dull pelvic pain which lasts a few hours or days. I take paracetamol. 

The first few years after the biopsy were awful. However symptoms have got better over time and with Tamsulosin. 

I've also found that my PSA spikes during a prostatitis flare up. Every MRI that I have had since the biopsy has mentioned inflammation, sometimes atrophy.

My doctor  because of my PC situation as referred me to urology. 

My last psa was early December was good  so hoping I can be helped with this ,I have had blood in urine also ?

Hi Mal CG sorry to hear that you have prostatitis.  I would be back with urology to try and find out what is going on.  After three antibiotic courses you should be recovering or stopping oral antibiotics.  Your PSA is great, so really you need to understand why you have blood.  Maybe you also have a slight proctitis which may settle after a while.  

Hi David it was only the one like clot of blood and my urine was pinkish for few pees after.

Hopefully urology will get get to bottom of it 

Did you try any herbal stuff cranberry, pumpkin seed oil etc ?
