Hi all first happy new year I had bloods done at doctors my ferritin count came back high doctor wasn’t over concerned nothing to be done has anybody else had a high result due to prostate cancer
Just over 1000 lately, if that helps.
I’ve looked at individual counts of things worried that I’m the only one caring about what the messages are under the face of the more interesting numbers and I was over worrying.
In context with all you other checks it’s easy to loose sight of the fact that you are not normal, you may think you are but you’re not. The bloods are high here and low there but on their own they are scary, but in context with you other factors (cancer and co-morbidities) you are in good shape.
However, what I say means nothing. I would ask my Oncologist asap just to air my worries. But they are experts and would have noticed as you did. So I guess it’s ok.
Good luck.
Hello Admiral
Happy New year to you too.
Ferritin level is the amount of stored iron your body has. I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to my test results. My ferritin levels were shown as higher than normal but my GP marked my records "OK for this patient". When I questioned it he said people with prostate cancer do have higher ferritin levels in their blood and nothing to worry about.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes - Brian.
