Hi all
Still very new to what is a good outcome from my biopsy results and being on active surveillance with Gleason 3+3. And feeling somewhat relieved it could have been worse but just wondering if I am overthinking things and there really is nothing to worry about for some time to come.
I know the Pirads 3 is also a good sign but I still worry that in the past 7 years the psa jumped from 1.66 to 2.8 to 4 and free psa dropped from 15% to 5% and testosterone has also dropped which in combination is bad.
I am generally in a good space but sometimes the what if pops into my head.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas break and wishing everyone all the best for 2026.
Hi Steve
MRI was in September. The only detail I have from the MRI are
MRI: PIRADS 3, Density 0.12
The only real symptoms I have are poor urine stream and bladder not always emptying so repeated trips to the loo usually more at nighttime. like I said mostly in a good place but the mind goes into overdrive sometimes which I am hoping is normal
thanks for taking the time to reply. It’s always good to hear from people who if not in the same boat have more knowledge than me
Hi Jester
No sure about urine issues could be something else, perhaps see your GP about that.
Back to the PC Def worth finding out, not urgent, tumour size just so that u can monitor it , mine went from 3mm to about 13mm in four years while on AS so keep your eye on sizing, it's all about if getting near capsule edge, am sure it isn't otherwise they would have said something
Good luck
Steve
Thanks for that Steve. That is very reassuring and will make sure to keep on top of everything when on AS.
they don’t think there odd anything to be concerned about for now.
thanks again
I’m also just starting on AS. Not yet even onboarded with true NTH to monitor the changes. I’m happy to stay with AS until I’m CPG 4. I’m a bit of a maths geek so will also be enjoying predicting my progress. My bio has the details.
For me the QoL will ultimately win out on any decisions I make. We are all on our own journey. No one’s decision is the correct path for anyone else. We can just make peace with the decision we make. What ifs can lead to a difficult place. So hope everyone can stay positive on their path.
Hey there.
just a suggestion for you and everyone. Just a helpful piece of advice.
you have a profile page and this can be as detailed as you wish for you cancer history and co-morbidities, so fill it out and see how the answers end up being more accurate for you because “we” can pre read what’s happened till now and make better judgement.
best of luck.
Just one more thing Jester
Try and make sure U have PSA every 3 or 6 months if poss and MRI every 1 yr or 18 months.
Other than that ....relax
Steve
Hi Jester
I have been on active surveillance for 9 years with Gleason 3+3. I used to overthink like you, and I came close to (over) treatment, but I chose AS and as time went by it became easier.
Now I have 6 monthly PSA tests and an MRI every 2 years.
If you can stay on AS, better treatments will become available in the future should you need them.
Happy New Year.
Thanks for this David - that is very reassuring to hear and a happy new year to you too
Hello Jester,
I would suggest you speak with your doctor about the poor urine flow & let them know about the frequent loo trips at night. If your lucky you will drop back to sleep again quite quickly but if not it can make you feel very tired during the day. They may be able to give you something like Tamsulosin which helps the bladder relax & makes urinating much easier & helps empty the bladder more fully.
Best Wishes
Brian
