Hello lovely people I managed to get a go out to dad today , did all relevant checks and was actually quite happy with the observations he did eveything seemed ok apart from dads frailty due to not eating or if he is it’s tiny amounts, and he did have a urine infection , I think I mentioned there was a horrible smell coming from him ( he’s got a cathator aswell )

so the next plan is for me to sort his mri out , he didn’t go to his appointment on Wednesday due to the public ambulance arriving 2 hours early and he wasn’t ready so he was really upset about that !

as soon as dad has had the mri I honestly think we will get more answers for his cancer prostate spread to bone ( hip and 3 vertebrae) I’m going to try and get it asap !!

Psa bloods are at 135

he’s definitely loosing weight and he’s actually in bed most of the time now it’s sad !! I just wish he would eat more because surely then he would have the strength to walk about the flat !
he’s got carers coming in now morning and evening pushing fluids and encouraging him to move which I’m happy about because I’ve done all I can I’m exuasted !

dads got to engage more and answer the phone when consultants want to speak to him , he’s had a letter through the consultant wants to speak to him next week about his ct results and maybe plan for his mri or treatment but dad said he doesn’t feel up to it and he’s house bound at the moment and needs to gear up for this mri , so I’m hoping and praying they will do the consultation on the phone for him due to his circumstances he’s to weak at the moment , but like the dr said today it’s changeable he can put weight on , and I’m really hoping he does ! For his own sake

thankyou for reading I told the gp today how this group really helps me so thankyou for all commenting and helping me through being a daughter of someone with this horrible c word

  • Hello

Thank you for the update. The good news is he's got the carers in now twice a day so that should take some pressure off you and I hope it makes dad appreciate that people are there to help him.

Let's hope he puts on some weight and starts to get up and about.

Do keep us up to date.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Yesterday he only managed 2 slices of toast and 3 mouth fulls of a tuna salad ( we’re throwing a lot of food away )

but he said he cant help not fancying anything , I’ve told him now much he is loosing and his face is so thin now but he said he cant help it , doctors explained his legs will totally give way if he doesnt start to try and get more down him , this will add up to why he is so tired also ! I mean he wont get moving if he doesnt eat because he needs to fuel , i cant belive hes got into this state honestly im hoping for a miricle

i think a lot of this is also anxiety and depression he got himself into a mess

  •   , has the UTI been cleared?  Is his urine better now?  Hopefully some of the others can help re what to eat, but when you don’t want to eat, drinking is often better, so soup or broth may get some nourishment into him.

    Best wishes, David

  • The gp only come out yesterday put him on antibiotics so fingers crossed crossed , i thought something was wrong with his urine it was so smelly and bad !

well my dad knows if he doesn’t eat he isn’t gonna find the strength to get out of that bed he’s been in for a while now

  • Ok, my guess is that once the antibiotics kick in, you will see a big difference (it might take 5 days) but try and make sure he is getting plenty of fluid and nourishment to build up his strength.

    Best wishes, David
