All,

First of all, I wish to thank everyone for their advice and kind words.   They mean a lot.

Seeing that I am a nervous wreck.. I can't sleep...I can't eat.

I would like to run down all I know and if you could give me your opinion on situation.

I understand that we won't know until the MRI and the biopsy.

But here goes -

- April PSA 9

-Nov -PSA 7.8 (I made a mistake thought it was 8.7) Free PSA 30.8%                                                                 Digital Exam - Doctor saw nothing.

Symptoms - light hip pain.                                                                     Constipation.                                                                      Erectile Dysfunction.                                                         No urinary issues as of yet

Please let know what you think of my situation. The symptoms have me worried.

Thank You

  • Hi

sorry you are so stressed with the process testing . But you are not alone . Every person on this forum has been through similar testing and at times long waits for such or on results .

please please take a pause and breath as every little pain etc your mind will go into overtime thinking it’s all connected . My husband was the same and we both struggled . We would get up during the night and drink  tea and watched rubbish on the TV.

I am not medically trained BUT some of your symptoms can be linked to stress such as ED. Not eating can cause constipation . You need to eat a balanced diet and drink plenty fluids . My OH. takes fresh pineapple for constipation and  has two litres of water a day this helps.

we also attend our local Maggie Centre and chat with councillors they are great and support us both. Possibly you GP to chat too.

can sign post you to the MacMillan support where you can call and chat with them . This might also eleviate your anxieties while waiting on tests and results .

You are not alone and please take care of yourself

    Best Wishes

    Liz & OH xxx

  • Thank You Liz

    Appreciate your kind words.

This definitely taking a toll on me and I don't even have a diagnosis.

My wife keeps telling me that I am fine. She doesn't understand the situation.

I wish I could chat with the team, but I am in Spain.

    Thank You again Hugging

  • Hello  . Don't forget that none of us are experts but all we can do is pass on some information we have gleaned during our journey. My husband had an excellent urologist and oncologist and a couple of things we gleaned was that a free PSA above 25% was usually indicative of a NON CANCEROUS state. Also a fluctuating PSA can be indicative of something like BPH - benign prostatic hyperplasia which can present symptoms similar to those for advanced cancer such as hip pain, ED and an elevated PSA.

Our guts react quickly to changes in eating habits and you say you haven't been eating as you did before - I am a great believer in trying to maintain a healthy gut biome so try and introduce something like Greek yogurt to rebalance it and get it working properly. I know it is not easy to stop worrying in your situation but take a deep breath and wait for the results of the tests. Try and distract yourself in the meantime by doing the things you enjoy.

  • I have just caught your response to Liz  . I live in Greece but this doesn't stop you from calling the Macmillan support line on

    +442070912230

They can't advise on facilities in Spain but they should be able to give you some help.

  • Thank You...

I understand that we are all laymen here.  But I've found the advice and comments here very helpful and calming.

Thank You for sharing your experience with me.

I will definitely take your advice and try to eat better.

    Thank You again

  • When did the 3 issues/symptoms start?

Did they all start together or separately?

Did u have a PSA prior to April?

  • All symptoms started about the same time.

My wife says that it is impossible that start at the same time.

I was fine before we went to see the doctor (a bit nervous) and was fine when he gave me the all clear on rectal exam...We went to have breakfast.

I didn't have a PSA test before April.

  • Thank You Thumbsup for the phone number.

    I will call this week...

    Thank You again

  • I think that when u  have a lot on your mind, anxiety etc then ED very likely, one of the things really not interested in, understandably

Hip pain could be down to anything.

Constipation, perhaps diet changed since anxiety started.

    But that's me guessing.

I still think spread unlikely especially with that PSA but obviously I could be wrong.

Just push for the MRI cos that  should tell you more

    Best wishes

    Steve
