Just to encourage others, having delivered hundreds of cards to houses encouraging others to hold a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support it only seemed right to have a go at one myself! So with the help of a few others we did just that last Friday and today we have banked £410 and there will be a bit more that will be claimed through Gift Aid! Really pleased to be able to give a little back after all the help I’ve received.
Hello Richards Dad
Brilliant news - and it's great to spread the word - I went to one - took my laptop and folk were amazed that we had our own "Community".
I know the Community costs Macmillan several hundreds of thousands pounds to run each year - with full time staff and IT costs etc - but it's fantastic to have a "safe" place where people can join, share their issues and receive information and support over and above that offered elsewhere. There are also the hundreds of thousands of people who don't join but "ghost" through sucking off the information they need.
I did hear the other day that we on the Prostate Group this year are the busiest cancer group on the Community - I think this may be down to a number of famous people going public with their diagnosis.
Thank you for your efforts in organising the coffee morning and raising the funds - you are a .
Best wishes - Brian.
