An evening out

What a great time we had on Saturday night at Inverness Airport "Running The Runway" for Maggie's Highlands. It stayed dry the whole evening and the entertainment was brilliant. It also happened to be my 78th birthday and I think I might have been the oldest person taking part. I was certainly the first walker to finish in 39:46, a personal best for a 5k, only being overtaken by a few runners who started a bit later than the walkers and joggers. The organisation was faultless and we were even presented with a cold shower at the finish line courtesy of the airport fire service. Whoever thought that a bacon roll at 1am could be so tasty!
On Saturday night I was very happy to have managed to raise £500 from my generous sponsors so imagine my surprise on Sunday morning when I found this had risen again to £610.
Maggie's is such a great asset to all cancer patients and their families. Our next event will be a Macmillan Cake & Coffee at our allotments in September.

  • Hello

Brilliant stuff - and to walk down an airport runway for charity - what an amazing idea. So glad you did it and 39.46 for 5K. (Lorraine and I walked round Linlithgow Loch this morning 3.7K and my personal best was about 90.00!!).

Well done you and as Liz said

Best wishes & belated happy birthday

    Kind Regards - Brian.
