Tiredness

Hi

Over the last 3 months when doing anything physical I get a extreme feeling of tiredness and want to sleep, if I do sleep it messes with my night time sleep so I do try to avoid it.

Could this be  a result of the radiotherapy and hormone treatment?

Cyril

  • I just registered because I have exactly the same problem.

  • Hi  I can’t recall when you finished RT but both that and HT cause fatigue.  RT can be a year after you last finish but generally would only be months.  In my experience you need to exercise up to the point before you are exhausted.  I find if I push too hard I am completely done in, but can recover after 15 mins or so.  Hope this helps.  David

  • Still got 10 months left on Triptorelin, some of my problems were due to lack of B12, 6 injections over two weeks and one every three months to eternity, but what a difference it has made. The hormone seems to wear off towards the end of the 6 month period, then starts to kick in about 3 weeks after the next injection..

Ten months seems to be a long way off at the moment.

  • Cyril ( ) ten months doesn’t sound that long (better than my treatment).  Good luck.  David

  • Hi my husband George has the same problem, mind you he had just gotten the all clear from Stage 4 Hodgins Lymphoma and 4 months later was diagnosed with prostate cancer which had spread to the bones, he is on HT treatment and his PSA is undetectable, but he suffers from really bad fatigue, the slightest effort and he is done in.  We are starting to go swimming and the gym as he has been told, the more he pushes himself the better he will feel, so fingers crossed he starts to see some results, my heart breaks when I think of how healthy he was, never sick and then two cancers one after the other, but we just take each day as it comes, who knows they may come with a cure in the future, but for now we just get on with life

How right they are, before I was diagnosed with PC I had started to renovate my big shed come workshop, PC treatment put it on hold, then a wet and cold winter and spring didn't help at all, so come the good weather I started again but this time the walls will be of brick.

I had been told  by my cancer support team that exercises and going to the gym and swimming helps,

I don't swim because as a very young primary schoolboy I was pushed into the deep end of our local pool by a teacher!!!, only to rescued by the lifeguard on duty.

So exercise has consisted of weight training in the house and walking our three dogs daily. But it made me tired, falling asleep just about anywhere was fun, supermarket for 20 minutes with head on table, no one came near me, the wife tapped me on the shoulder.

I put this down to the radiotherapy and the hormone therapy, any exercise made me feel exhausted,

My youngest sister,  bless her told me to get my B 12 checked again low and behold it was low, 6 injections over 2 weeks and 1 every three months to eternity.

It has made an amazing difference to the way I have been feeling both physically and mentally.

My shed was on a go slow until some on the forum said when you feel fatigued/ exhausted take a 15 minute break, so yesterday I set out to cut some by blocks in half, I had 22 left to cut.

4 had been the most I could manage before retiring to the house., out for the day or so it seemed.

So I cut 4 more then went back into the house for a decaf coffee and a biscuit,

20 minutes later I was back out cutting the blocks, another 8 succumbed to my saw, cleared up, in for a shower and change of clothes and felt so much better than I have for months.

Today though is a day indoors, light persistent rain, no wind, warm and clouds of midges, at least most of the blocks have been cut.

Why am I cutting blocks in half?  40 free blocks makes 80 half blocks, Free.

Pity we loive on the side of a mountain though.
