Hi there,

Appreciate any help and advice. Why is there such a shortage of invite in the UK. I have been prescribed this since my radical proctectomy.

When I have had it it has worked well for me where as tablets just gave me indigestion and headaches. But it seems to be no longer available or very limited supply.

My sexy life is none existent and I wondered what alternatives were available. I spoke to my doctor and he said there was no alternative and to speak to the urology team who have basically said the same.

it is getting me down and feel so low that I wish I had never had the operation.

  • Hello

I am so sorry to read your post - sadly many people have surgery and aren't told the full possible side effects.

Why is there such a shortage of invite in the UK.

I am not too sure by your words "invite" - that's a new one on me.

Here's a link to our guide that should help you - your surgical team should be able to pass you on to the sexual health team for help.

    Sexual Wellbeing After Surgery.

I do hope this helps - please do come back to me or give the Support Line a call on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week).

I will do my best to help you here.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Apologies meant Invicorp.

  • Yesterday I had a home visit from an iMediCare rep. I was supposed to have an appointment at Addenbrookes, but they were having issues and kept postponing, then they suggested a home visit which I agreed to. It was very informative and I got a prescription to take to the GP who I am seeing tomorrow. Can’t say what going to happen now for sure… Hope/plan is that the doc agrees to the prescription and I get a device in the next 7-10 days, then 4 weeks “practice” - the rep equated that to regular a physio or gym visit for the little man downstairs. If anything spontaneous occurs, then sexy time is fine, but for those 4 weeks no intercourse using the pump first as the penis needs time to get used to the manual pumping. Sorry a bit TMI there. Main thing here is ask hospital/GP about iMediCare as an alternative. Not sure if it’s regional, but might be worth an ask!

Hope it all gets sorted for you!

  • Hello

So Invicorp is the direct injection into the penis - it's possible like many other prescription drugs there is a UK shortage at the moment. There is an alternative in the UK - "Caverject" -ask if that's available.

Have a read of the link I sent in my post - there are other options and you are entitled to be referred to your Community sexual health team.

    Best wishes - Brian.
