  • Good morning

My OH is on vitamins , alendronic acid & Advil d3 but they are prescribed by the GP . the oncologist asked for it to be given . So it might be worth asking as it’s a way of them checking your taking the right amount .

    bedt wishes

  • thanks I'll make enquiries with my GP.

  • Hello Dale (

Calcium and Vitamin D is an essential for anyone on Hormone Therapy as you rightly say to help your bone structure.

I am on Turmeric (for my joints) and Sage (for my hot sweats).

As with ANY vitamins and supplements check with your GP to ensure there is no medication clash.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Dale, can I suggest you ask your doctors for a full blood test to see what vitamin deficiencies you may have, as the supplements they can prescribe will be more effective than over the counter alternatives, and won't have any negative impact on the treatments you are on, it would also help if you could have a bone density scan to be certain your getting the best treatment.

  • Hi !

I suppose that you’re on hormone therapy long term and because of Testosterone (and actually also estrogen) suppression this affect bone density short and long term

Vitamin D3 and Calcium helps some to counter act the bone density decrease, together with excercise. Vitamin K2 helps out actually directing calcium to the bones so that is also a very important vitamin when being on hormone therapy long term.

Check with your doctor / medical team about Vitamin D3 and also Vitamin K2
