Some years ago I had HIFU for cancer in one lobe of my prostate gland. It was successful, initially, but my PSA level rose later. I then had docetaxel followed by hormone therapy for about 6 years and this, too was initially effective but my PSA is rising again. It has been suggested that I should have radiotherapy of the other lobe of my prostate bur the side effects risk puts me off. Has anyone else had a similar experience and, if so, what did they do and what would they recommend me to do.?
Hi
So first you had HIFU and then you had recurrence? After that you had chemo with hormone therapy and recurrence again? What is your Gleason grade and what is your diagnosis now? Traditionally you need to have radiation or prostatectomy to be treated with curative intent.
