Psa now 0.23 from 0.11 3 months ago. Consultant on Wednesday agreed that treatment needs to be under way before psa reaches 0.5 ish. So….. My thoughts are, I’m now waiting for a scan to see where cancer may be. Then I’ll be waiting for radiation to begin. Meanwhile my psa could  rise well above this threshold long before I start treatment. When I asked about this the 0:5 was acknowledged by my consultant. Apparently h/t would bring psa down so why not start  me on those asap to keep it at bay? I intend calling oncology tomorrow so any advice would be welcome. Thankyou.

  • Hi again Mat ( ), I think a chat with your team would be good.  As I have said before, PCa is slow growing so no mad panic but it does sound like HT would be worth starting. David

  • Hi David, thanks for your reply. My concern is that my bloods have doubled so in theory I could be up around the 0.5 soon…. Once this happens I thought it was the point of no going back . Things ramp quickly up and spread, mortality numbers increase? Thanks .

  • Hi !

That’s not a good way, to put you on hormone therapy, because then it might be possible that you miss spots that has been put dormant with the use Hormone therapy. But ok, you are not at critical PSA levels at all for the moment and by having a PSMA Pet Scan they might actually see the recurrence and add ’boosts’ to that area of course together with the hormone therapy. It’s better to know where to treat and treat it hard Slight smile

But, yes a doubling over 3 months; I think you should be knocking on the door to get the attention.

    Best wishes - Ulf
