I’ve recently had a TURP, which revealed a low grade cancer but that aside in interested in your experience with self catheterisation. I had to have two further operations because of bladder neck constricture and I’m now on a period of self catheterisation to keep the neck from closing up again (twice per week). The other day I did the procedure ok but the day after I had bleeding at the start of passing urine for the whole day. Most alarming was that this was coupled by extremely sore testicles which is still the case and so I wondered if anyone else had experienced this and if it could be linked to the bleeding. I guess what I’m wondering is whether I’ve damaged anything. I’ve read that widening the bladder neck can cause thinning of the pipe work and therefore could I have poked through with the catheter?
Good Morning SPB
Whilst I have had a TURP operation, I managed to get rid of the pesky catheter the day after, so I can't comment personally .
In view of your comments and what has happened I would advise you to contact your urology team at the hospital, failing this it's either 111 or A & E. better safe than sorry.
Please let us know how you get on.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi SPB that sounds horrific. I cannot help but in the absence of any other posts, I would suggest you call the hospital and get a professional opinion. If you don’t have any numbers, then your surgery or 111. The last thing you need is an infection, so get some help. Hopefully others will be along but in the absence of that, seek help. Best wishes, David
