Still new to the hormone thing... Just had my second injection.. The hot flushes come thick and fast... I do get tired but not sure if that's me or the hormones..

Anyone have any problems driving.. especially longer distances.. say an hr or two.. I am starting to worry about fatigue if this effects driving?

  • Hi

Whilst I did experience fatigue and tiredness, it didn't cause me any problems driving.  Whilst on Prostap, we took a number of UK holidays, driving anything up to 4 hours ish. To be fair, I generally like to take a break after a couple of hours, so didn't drive the 4 hours in one go.

Based on my experience I think you will be fine, but as we are all different, take heed of your body, and take as many breaks as you need.

  • My husband ( retired) has carried on driving. The only thing I would not let him do was drive himself to and from radiotherapy. This was because he was very stressed to the point of distraction and our journey was across the city centre - a difficult and tedious journey - with no guarantee that he could enter the hospital car park without queuing for an hour or so! I used to drop him off at the hospital and then go and park in a nearby supermarket car park. Once he had finished his treatment he would phone me and I would pick him up and drive him home. I have not found his driving has been impaired.

  • If you find it does affect your driving then if you can share the driving or break up the drive and have regular rest stops.  I just had two cataract operations 1st Dec 9th and 2nd Jan 26trh so until I could have my new glasses 12 weeks after last op my wife has done all the driving and she has found it hard going - In February we drove two hours to a funeral and then two hours home - on country roads - a couple of roadworks etc and then through a busy city.  She said if she had to do that again she would want an overnight stop as it was too much in one day!

  • When the time comes I am going to set off early just in case I need more stops.. My wife will not drive with me as a passenger.. no idea why. Just one of her little quirks I guess Slight smile

  • It's a pity you can't share the driving.  I used to do nearly all the driving but we now share it on longer journeys.  I do find the fatigue can sometimes effect my driving - I now work from home as the 50 min drive to and more importantly from work was just too much and I didn't feel very focussed on the return leg.

Also I found on long journeys that the drive might be OK but I was knackered for the next day!  Set off early and take lots of breaks.
