I read on one of my Google searches that Tomatoes are good for people with Prostrate problems . Started taking capsule form Lycopene 10mg which is in tomatoes . Early days but PSA readings to now

  • Lycopene is very good for you. You only get it in good quantity from tomatoes if you cook them.

  • Agree with cooking tomatoes.

  • Hi

I also read that tomatoes were good for the prostate - well before I developed PC.

I started drinking a tumbler full every day for breakfast. After a few years, I developed gout. On discussing with a friend in Australia realised, the tomato juice was causing the gout ( he ate cherry tomatoes by the handful every time he passed the fruitbowl). He also had gout, his GP told him to cut back, and the gout sorted itself out. Same happened with me.

So, as in most things, tomatoes are wonderful things and are very good for you, moderation is the key!

  • Hi please what gout means?

  • Hi

It's an inflammation of the ( usually) big toe joint. I believe uric acid crystallises in the joint - its very painful! Please bear in mind that I still eat tomatoes - cooked and uncooked - with no problems. I was just over doing it I think!

Guessing Dr Google can give full details of the condition
