I have just received my latest 6 monthly PSA test and it has increased once again, therefore I am a little concerned, should I be?

I was diagnosed with prostate Cancer in 2006 after radio therapy treatment my PSA settled down over the next few years @0.5 or there about.
But since 2017 it has steadily increased as below:

7th June 2017 PSA@0.68
29th Dec 2017 PSA@0.59
15th June 2018 PSA@0.59
24th Dec 2018 PSA@0.81
11th July 2019 PSA@0.71
3rd Dec 2019 PSA@0.71
8th Sept 2020 PSA@0.75
12th March 2021 PSA@0.84
16th Sept 2021 PSA@0.94
15th March 2022 PSA@1.15

Please can you advise, thanks for your time.

  • What does your oncologist/urologist say?  I was told they would not be concerned until my PSA reached 2 but as yours is getting ever closer like you I would be concerned so would make an appointment to see the urologist/oncologist as soon as I could.  They may well ask for another test before or after you see them and may suggest more frequent tests. To keep a closer eye on the rise in PSA.

  • I don't have a oncologist/urologist, just have regular 6 monthly PSA tests, last result 1.15 came back with the message satisfactory and that is all, just a bit concerned, perhaps I should see my GP and see what he say's.

  • Hi Devonroy

My feeling is that GP's don't know that much about PSa after treatment, think that if in the normal range that's ok.

Obviously concerning  that Psa has nearly doubled.

Think u would need a specialist to read into this though

With my cancer center after 5 years I was released but told to get yearly PSa and to go back to them if a problem with rising PSa.

So I would try and get hold of your centre or ask your GP to refer you back.

    Regards

    Steve
