ALP in Blood tests

Hi Arthur,

Sorry I can`t give you any info for comparison as I have never heard of ALP.  I don`t even know if this is looked at in my monthly blood tests. Maybe it is a post code thing for treatment plans? I will ask the nurse when she takes my bloods on Friday.

In British hospitals we referred to it as Alk Phos, an enzyme involved in bone metabolism .

Thanks yes. It's the Alkaline Phosphate Test (ALP) and it comes back as part of my monthly blood test. If it is too high it can be a clear indicator of bone deterioration from cancer. It is done as part of bone profile test and liver function test. Worth getting I would have thought for everybody with bone mets.     

Maybe that explains why I was put on Alendronic acid and AD-CAL3 a few month ago. Still not too old to learn something, thanks Arthur.

• Daft question but is ALP the phosphate alcalina.  Just looking at “Al’s” (hubby) last blood test.  It is French.

The black value range for ALP is 20-150. Mine is 196 so in the red but hopefully heading in the right direction.
