Has anyone else experienced double inguinal hernias and prostate cancer at the same diagnosis?

Psa 63 gleason score 8 anyone through the other side? Need some guidance

  • Hi DB

Do u have any more info such as staging ie   is the cancer contained within the gland?

Do u have any pain or issues regards the hernias?

I was diagnosed with a hernia some years ago, before my PC, went for a second opinion and discovered that it wasn't a hernia.

I would imagine that you would be sent to see a hernia specialist, see what they say.

    Best wishes

  • Don't worry about the hernias; that's a very minor, safe and routine business that can be dealt with at the same time or separately if you don't have surgery for the cancer.

More important is the TNM score of your prostate cancer. Do you have that, or are investigations still going on?

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.

Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.

  • My hernias take me to the limit of my pain threshold each time they flare up. I have psa 63 and gleason score of 8.my team alsi want to do a ctocopy and i dont know why. I can hardly pass urine and is painful if its the cancer or the herniad i dont know. I cant get hold of my cns.

  • for some reason they wont start radiation until ive had hernia repairs.

ended up ywo weekends in the row with hernia pain managmebt. oromorth and iv parecetamol

  • Owww!  two inguinal hernia's  I have two but at different times.  I had to wait so long on NHS for the first one I eventually paid to have it done privately at British Hernia Centre near Hendon.  Fantastic.  The second one I had done privately again at a local private hospital - not so good an experience but definitely better than waiting on NHS at the time.  If your Oncologist pushes for you you should be able to get the hernia's done quickly to enable the radiotherapy to start.  Are you going onto Hormone Therapy first?  If so you usually have about 6 months of Hormone Therapy before the radiotherapy starts.  What is your TNM score?  Have you had a MRI, CT Scan or bone scan for the prostate?

  • Yes freefaller. And thnx for your input. I have had all the mri, ct scans, ultrasounds, biopsies done and bone scan. MIssed my cystocopy bottled it after waiting hour and half. Am on bicutalamide 50mg upping if tolerated to 150mg b4 raduotherapy. Same as no blood in urine, but last five days trying to pass water around thirty times in each 24hr period not getting better. Spoke to dr today and she says she will get my team together and  hopefully reevalute my treatment plan on monday. Or before depending if im back in a and e tbis weekend. Never been ill in my life. Then 2nd june this year all on the same day. Doing my best to cope with this transitionional period of acceptance and not denial.

    Many thanks again.
