Hi my dad has just recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He is 83 so I know he's old but I'm in pieces
Hi
Not the best news to receive, it’s a real heart stopper. The good thing is there are a lot of great new treatments out there, that will keep him going for a number of years to come. If your very worried, which like all family members usually are, talk to McMillan nurses they can visit you, their extremely good at putting your mind at ease, plus they can tell you how the treatment will affect your dad.
It will be hard for you, seems like your very attached to your parents, sorry about your mum, the world never seems a fair place, try and keep those happy thoughts of when you were younger, be positive, keep smiling when your with your dad, he’s still with us and hopefully will be for a long time yet.
stay safe
Joe
This must be a ghastly time for you.
I am sure the specialists will find treatment which will keep your father going for years and years.
Make sure you look after yourself as well.
Wishing you the best.
If you have no other support, please do try the Macmillan team. I’m new to this group too, and have found it very helpful, but if you need to reach out more, do try the team. It must be very difficult for you right now, but I think you’ve found the right group. Best wishes. X
