Hi All

We saw my husbands consultant yesterday. He was discussing possible prostate surgery. He was talking about side effects that some men experience. I wondered if any chaps on here that have had surgery and what their experiences are. Thankyou

Hi I had robotic radical prostatectomy  on 2nd of July this year did not think I ncontinence would be an issue still change pads 6 times a day, and  much reduced penis length never told of that one all in all though good don't worry the help you get from specialist nurses is very good good luck with everything

    Hi

Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply. Yes we are a bit concerned about that situation. My hubby cant have radiitherapy due to him having Chrones Disease. Radiiotherapy would irritate his bowel. Oh the delights .

Hi my brother had radiotherapy and hormone injection s he had a bad time with it all,so i chose surgery and happy with my decision, it really isn't that bad just me expecting to feel ready to go back to work to early it's going to take a while for that to happen.make sure he does his pelvic floor exercises a lot ,I didn't and paying consequences now hope all goes well

  • Hi chippy

I'm 9 weeks post rp and so far so good the only real problem I had was with my catheter it was so painful from day 2.

I phoned my nurse several times just to be told to they were to busy to come out and to go to a and e if it got worse. Well it did so I took it out myself (not recommended) but found out I had a nasty uti.

Some of the problems like incontinence and ed haven't really been a problem I was using tenna man 2 I used 2 pads daytime and 1 at night with just minor dribbling.

I'm now using 1 in the day just in case and totally dry at night.

As for ed I had nerve sparing on one side only and ok while I still can't get a full erection its good enough for some funGrinstill have a slight pain going to the loo but it's only now and then.

As for any shrinking down stairs I'm glad to say it's still all intact.

Well that's me but remember we are all different.

    Cheers

    Garry
