Hi all
just a quick question my dad was due to start radiotherapy
tomorrow for prostate cancer,
every day for 4 weeks . Just recieved a phone call from aintree
to say the machines broke is broke and can he start on Friday
I understand things happen, but he geared himself up for the treatment and all though it’s only a few days delayed it’s very disappointing, would anyone know if this is usual to cancel
these treatments or has he just been unlucky this time
many thanks for any replies
Lesley
Good morning
and thanks for the reply I will pass this onto my dad. It’s a hard time for anyone going through this but it’s lovely to hear from people who have come through it and the kind advise they give me I always pass onto my dad who is very grateful
best of luck to you for the future and thanks again
Lesley x
I think it will be a bit of an anti-climax when your dad has his first radiotherapy session. Its pretty quick and you don't feel a thing.
The machines do breakdown occasionally and this normally means your treatment is delayed on the day but as someone else observed as its his first session they have delayed by a couple of days.
Take the opportunity to have a chat with some of the other patients while you are waiting. I found this very therapeutic and I made some good friends.
Best of Luck Rob
Hello
thank you you Rob for the reply
I think you’re right we just need to get the first one out the way and hopefully he will see then that’s it’s not really that bad
take care and thanks Lesley x
mine wasn't completely cancelled, just delayed by about a hour, luckily Royal Worcester has 5 treatment rooms, can understand the worry, once he gets the first session done he will know its not at all painful and quick treatment time
good luck to him, hope all ends with a positive outcome
Hi thanks you for the reply
yes I think after the first session he will calm down a bit so far no phone call so hopefully tomorrow is the day
thanks you
hope you’re well x
