Hi

I start my EBRT in a few weeks, just looking for some feedback on peoples experiences please, so I am as fully prepared

as possible. All early morning appointments as I live close to Lincoln Hospital. Currently half way through my Bicalutamide tablets,

and started my HRT Triptorelin a couple of weeks ago. Thanks

PS. I have bought Laid if required, and vitamin d supplements and calcium supplements.

PSA 5.2   Gleason 4;3 = 7.  T2/T3a.  Bone scan clear.  CPG4

  • Hi  ,  glad you have a start date for your RT.  Firstly we are all different and we react to treatment differently but there are some common side effects mainly fatigue and often upset tummy but just let your team know and they can help.

I guess you have had your planning day, so you know what to expect, but basically the treatment is completely painless and most of the problem is complete boredom.  I did 37 sessions and it was Groundhog Day after the first few.  You will be advised how to present yourself but generally empty bowel and fairly full bladder, but some hospitals go for empty bladder as well.  The enemy is wind, so make sure you don’t eat wind generating things (fizzy drinks, onions, cabbage etc).  Please ask any questions you may have, and good luck with the treatment.
