Hi I start my rt today I have just received my PSA results and it is 0.08 would this level be the norm going into treatment thanks Paul
Hello Paul1963 .
I don't think there is a norm but it is a very good predictor that the hormone therapy has got the cancer under control and that the radiotherapy will kill it off with less likelihood of a recurrence. Going from a PSA of 5.7 to 0.08 in a relatively short time is also good.
I hope the radiotherapy goes well from today and that you don't experience many side effects.
Good Afternoon Paul1963
You started Hormone Therapy in March 2024 so the HT has reduced your PSA from 5.7 on diagnosis to 0.08 which is a great base figure to start from.
The Radiotherapy should kill off the cancer cells and after your RT treatment has been completed your next PSA test which will be some time after the end of RT should be 0.08 or below.
All looks normal for a curative pathway and I hope you can keep the fatigue and any other side effects at bay.
Best wishes - Brian.
