Hi everyone,
I would just like to give you a wee update on my husband's progress as he is undergoing The Triplet Treatment Plan , this may be of a little help to anyone who is still deciding which treatment plan to go with.
My husband has advanced PC & it has spread into his spine, hips & ribs. He was diagnosed on 7th July, he started Firmagon HT injections on 18th July. On the 7th July his PSA levels were 984, after another blood test 2 weeks after initial diagnosis his PSA level had quickly elevated to 1,600 which was an absolute terrible shock to us both.
He has been getting his HT injections every 28 days and on the 9th October he had his 1st chemo infusion, we did not get any blood test results at this time but he had his 2nd chemotherapy infusion on Monday & the oncologist informed us then that from his blood test results prior to his chemo on 9/10 his PSA level had dropped from 984 to 34 and at his 2nd chemo on Monday he informed us it had dropped form 34 to 4
I can not express how relieved we were to hear this news, the oncologist said it was a good indicator that the treatment is working, I also know it is early days & my husband still has to get another 4 infusions/drips.
I also know every case is individual & different but this may give a little hope & help those who may be still trying to decide which path to go down. So far my husband's 1st infusion until now he has only had 2 days of a little muscular pain, which is a side effect from the treatment but he is now feeling really good.
I wish everyone good health & happiness & I hope this post may help some of you a little.
That's wonderful news Baileybella and a significant drop in the PSA over such a short period of time. We were told that if the PSA had dropped by at least 50% after the third chemotherapy cycle then this would be a good indication of the treatment having worked so your husband has far exceeded this. I am glad that he has had so few side effects and that he has the full 6 cycles. Keep everyone posted on your journey as it is always good to hear the positives as well as the negatives.
Hello Baileybella
A warm welcome to the club you didn't want to join. Well let me start off by thanking you for your first post which is amazing news for anyone who has Advanced Prostate Cancer and shows that not only does Triplet Therapy Work in your husband's case the side effects are minimal.
Let's hope that the rest of his Prostate Cancer journey is as easy and the results stay positive. It's great to have good news in the Community and as my friend Alwayshope said above keep us all posted with his journey.
I am sure I know someone with very similar symptoms and a treatment plan .
Best wishes - Brian.

Hello and welcome. It is lovely to hear good news. We are in a similar situation to you. Husband on diagnosis was 59.9. Also on triple therapy. He has had 5 sessions of chemo and after number 4 his PSA has dropped to 0.17 so expecting it to be even lower at his next test on 15 November. He has done very well so far with just a bit of brain fog ( it does try my patience) and a metallic taste. Hope your husband can continue doing well, it certainly makes us wife's/partners feel better.
Hi Shar,
That is another lovely, heartwarming story to hear, I am also very glad for both you & your husband bcz you are going through this journey too, albeit you are not receiving the treatment, it is very hard to watch your partner go through this journey, we have lots of sleep less too. I think I forgot to add, although my husband has only 2 out of his 6 drips he has not had any sickness & the very next day he is out walking between 10,000-13,000 steps, he is a real trooper but my worry & fear is that it is early days but I just keep praying that he will continue this journey as well as he has been doing so far & I wish the same for your husband. No matter what you still have the worry that it is not curable but so far the treatment appears to be really working.
Take good care of yourself also.
