Just to make those aware, Lutetium 177 was rejected for use by SNHS.

Scottish Medicines Consortium on 09/10/23.

"The submitting company’s justification of the treatment’s cost in relation to its health benefits was not sufficient and in addition the company did not present sufficiently robust clinical and economic analyses to gain acceptance by SMC."

  • Hello Steve

Thank you very much for pointing this out - I have just read your detailed journey - and this treatment not being available in Scotland is so unfair!!

On another thread I have just highlighted where the NHS has some totally different "rules" for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It's so confusing and so wrong in my personal opinion. It's almost a "postcode lottery".

Best wishes - and thanks again - Brian.

  • So much for a National Health Service. We live in north wales and if it isnt paracetamol you can’t have it - simple as that! Seriously though I’ve met negative responses each time I’ve challenged treatment for OH. NO to triplet therapy. (Excuses were initially not licensed- challenged that then told too much paperwork!) NO to STR. NO to anymore than 20 sessions standard RT.  NO to second opinions. It’s shocking, shameful unfair and negligent that our men are simply left unless you live in the correct postcode areas. Sorry -rant over

  • Hello

You are quite right to have a rant - it's wrong that treatment differs from area to area - I think I am fine because I live in England - I can see North Wales on a good day when out walking my dogs!! The title is NATIONAL health Service not "individual nation health service!!"

On another note I have good friends in both North and South Wales - dare I say "20mph" (oh I have done!!) Joy.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Oh don’t get me started on the millions spent on WG vanity projects whilst the NHS is in tatters. Waited nearly 12/12 to even start treatment by which time had mets. Couldn’t make it up. Stay safe Brian - enjoy the views but stick with England- at least you have choices of hospitals there - in wales you’re not allowed.
